Microsoft has officially launched its first sovereign data center region in Chile, named “Chile Central.” This new region, strategically located in the Santiago metropolitan area, comprises three physically independent sites housing multiple state-of-the-art data centers. The launch of Chile Central is part of Microsoft’s broader “Transforma Chile” initiative—the company’s most ambitious investment plan in the country to date. Since its inception in December 2020, Transforma Chile has provided digital skills training to over 330,000 Chileans and expanded connectivity to 300,000 people in rural areas.
