Xbox continues its mission to make gaming more flexible, accessible, and convenient with the Xbox July 2025 update for the PC app. This major update, available now, introduces a suite of features designed to give players more control and seamless access to their games, wherever and however they choose to play. If you’re a PC gamer, a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, or just eager for the latest in gaming, here’s everything you need to know about the Xbox July 2025 update—and why it’s a milestone for gaming on PC.
Stream Your Own Games on PC—No Downloads, No Waiting

Starting today, Game Pass Ultimate members in 28 supported Xbox Cloud Gaming markets can stream over 250 games in their owned collection—including recently-added hits like Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and The Callisto Protocol. This feature extends to console-only games, meaning you can now play titles previously locked to the Xbox platform right from the PC app, bypassing the need for downloads or extra purchases.
How It Works
-
Open the Xbox PC app and head to the Cloud Gaming section.
-
Look for the “Stream your own game” list.
-
Select any supported title you own and start playing instantly from the cloud.
Why is this a big deal?
Not only does this save you hard drive space and time, but it also adds a new layer of flexibility. You can seamlessly jump from console to PC—or any other supported device—with your progress awaiting you.
Cross-Device Play History and Improved Library Management
The July 2025 update is all about continuity. Xbox Insiders who are Game Pass Ultimate members are getting access to cross-device play history:
-
See all your recently played games across consoles, PC, and the Xbox PC app.
-
Pick up exactly where you left off, no matter what device you switch to.
Library improvements in the Xbox PC app now bring all your cloud-playable console games—spanning the original Xbox to the Series X|S—into one easy-to-navigate space. Whether you own a game or have it through Game Pass, you won’t have to hunt to find or resume your favorites.
Get Rewarded for Playing on the Xbox PC App
Earning rewards for doing what you love just got easier.
Now you can track your progress toward Microsoft Rewards directly in the Xbox PC app. Every session spent gaming racks up rewards points, which can be redeemed for gift cards, sweepstakes entries, and more. This feature is rolling out to eligible markets for players aged 18 and older with a Microsoft account.
How to Get Started:
-
Open the Xbox PC app and view the new progress channel on the Home page.
-
Play games and track weekly bonuses.
-
Claim your points and add them to your balance.

New Age Verification Requirements in the UK Strengthen Xbox’s Commitment to Player Safety
As part of Xbox’s ongoing dedication to player security and compliance with the UK’s Online Safety Act, a new age verification process is now being rolled out to players in the United Kingdom. UK-based users aged 18 and over will begin receiving notifications prompting them to verify their age for a one-time process.
Starting early next year, verifying age will be required for continued access to all social features—like game invites and voice or text chat—with unverified accounts being limited to “friends only” social features until verification is completed. This change does not affect game purchases or achievements, but ensures the platform continues to provide age-appropriate experiences.
Xbox assures users that age verification data is securely encrypted and never used for any other purpose. As this system rolls out in the UK, Xbox plans to monitor its effectiveness and may expand similar safety measures globally, ensuring both privacy and secure gaming for all players.
