BitLocker

BitLocker is a full-volume encryption feature included in premium editions of Microsoft Windows. First introduced in Windows Vista, BitLocker provides data protection by encrypting entire disk volumes, helping to prevent unauthorized access to data on lost or stolen devices. It uses the AES encryption algorithm with either 128-bit or 256-bit keys. BitLocker can work with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip for added security, but can also function on systems without TPM. The feature supports various authentication methods, including PIN, USB key, or smart card. For enterprise environments, BitLocker can be managed centrally through Group Policy or Microsoft Endpoint Manager. With its seamless integration into Windows and robust encryption capabilities, BitLocker has become a standard tool for data protection in both personal and business environments.
